BUSINESSES in Northern Ireland have been urged to adapt to therapidly expanding sector of mobile technology in order to make themost of recruiting new staff in the future.
Recent studies predict that the number of mobile internet userswill overtake the number of desktop users in three years.
An event organised by the Northern Ireland Chambers of Commerceheard from staff at recruitment firm Hays, which said that 30% ofall internet activity is focused on job-seeking, leading to hundredsof blogs, Facebook pages, and even YouTube videos being dedicated torecruitment.
A recent Hays survey found that nearly half of UK professionalsuse social networking sites regularly in a professional capacity.
Hays senior business manager Andy Taylor said: "The popularity ofFacebook, Linkedin and Twitter has increased exponentially since2008 and they now claim over 800 million users."
