EXPERT SAYS BETTER CONDOMS NEEDED TO CURB AIDS.(Local)

Although AIDS educators advocate condoms to prevent the spread of the deadly disease, an expert says condoms are inadequate to do the job effectively.

"Today's condoms are probably not safe to protect against disease," Mathilde Krim, founder of the New York City-based American Foundation for AIDS Research, said Thursday.

She gave the keynote address at a conference on AIDS prevention and education sponsored by Russell Sage College, Albany Medical Center and the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York.
